I bought this book for my daughter and my niece who are in 12th grade this year. We are disappointed that this book didn't give useful guidance on how to write a good college essay - it gave sample essays of the students that were accepted to the listed colleges. We gave 3 stars, because this book's 7 tips (for example: "Use your own voice", "Narrate, don't summarize") were brief, not specific. At least it isn't much helpful to my daughter and my niece.Product details

Useful.
I have been looking for Ivy League college application essays for a while and I am so glad to find it through . This book of collected essays from eight Ivy Leagues schools plus other top colleges.Just what I was looking for.
Great book! My kid is still young but I'm still having her read these essays - to catch a glimpse of how successful people (I know it may be a bit contraversial to define success as getting into a nice college but still) deal with obstacles and overcome them. Kudos
This book was extremely helpful in its information about college application essays. There was a large chunk of information in the beginning with tips on how to improve your essay and increase your chances of getting into an Ivy League college. Then, there are essays of students who were accepted into Ivy League schools. They vary in topic and writing style, giving a good impression of how your college essay should be formatted. Overall, this is very organized and informative. I highly recommend it.

Very disappointed. A total waste of money.
Most of the essays did not have the prompt. So you are reading and trying to guess what the original prompt was.
Very similar essays, if not the same are all over the internet.
You would imagine there would be some guidance of what these schools are looking for or at least some analysis of some of the essays in the book.
Wow! Real application essays by kids who were admitted, mostly in 2015! I just started reading and I love it. The "7 tips on college essays" by a Yale student in the preface section is very helpful. All essays are sectioned by schools so it is easy for me to find the ones submitted to a particular school. Just one click from the Table of Contents.
Highly recommended!
Bye for now, continue my reading...
